How it works

Parking is scarce and expensive near transport hubs, hospitals, universities, event venues and dense city centres. Driveway-sharing apps let you list your space, set availability and price, and have drivers book it. Commuters want a monthly spot; event-goers want a Saturday. You do nothing except keep the space clear and answer the occasional message.

What it actually takes

A space you have the right to rent. Check your lease, mortgage conditions or homeowners' association rules.
Being within walking distance of somewhere people need to park. If not, this idea doesn't exist for you.
A listing with a photo, clear instructions and honest dimensions.
Checking whether income from it is taxable or affects anything else where you live.

Where it goes wrong

Location. Most driveways are worth nothing. Check the apps for demand near you before assuming.
Access disputes. A blocked-in car, a neighbour's complaint, a driver who won't leave. Use the app's rules, not your temper.
Insurance. Some home policies need to know. Ask.
Overestimating it. Near a stadium on match days it's good money; in a suburb it's nothing.
