Make Money Not Drama

About

Make Money Not Drama is a catalog of specific ways to make money, each rated on the same fixed scales, each stating who pays you and for what. Eventually, each carrying reports from people who tried it.

Every "side hustle" site on the internet is a content farm. Long lists, big numbers, a course at the bottom. This site's name promises the opposite, and the promise is enforced in the data, not just the copy. Three rules shape every entry:

  1. No bare income claims. Every number on the site is either a band chosen from a fixed list, or attached to a receipt: a user's report of what they actually earned. There is no field for "$10,000 a month", so nobody can write it.
  2. The money flow must be stated. Every idea answers "who pays you, and for what?" in a required field. Anything that can't answer it clearly is almost always a scheme.
  3. Recruitment income is banned outright. If the earnings depend on signing up other people, the idea is rejected. That covers multi-level marketing, referral pyramids and "opportunities" that cost money to join.

How to read the scales

Five fixed scales sit on every row, every headline and every idea page. Four are ordered; the fifth says where the idea works. In lists they appear as one line of notation, on an idea page as ratings, and on the plot as the axes themselves. The bands are deliberately coarse: they make honest comparison possible and inflated claims impossible.

What a receipt is

A receipt is one person's report of trying one idea: the outcome (made money, broke even, lost money, quit early), earnings and hours as bands, and two short answers to "what worked" and "what didn't". Receipts outrank votes on this site by design. Votes measure how appealing an idea sounds. Receipts measure whether it works.

An idea with forty receipts where thirty-one lost money is more useful than any article. Receipts open when accounts launch. Until then every idea honestly shows zero.

Where the ideas come from

The current catalog is editorial: written by us, on purpose, before opening submissions. A submission box on an empty site collects nothing but spam. When submissions open, nothing will publish automatically; every entry goes through a queue against the moderation policy, and the graveyard collection Ideas that sound good and aren't is where the rejected pitches go to be explained.
